Reading and listening

A new hobby

Last weekend was, in her opinion, one of the most relaxing weekends Laila has had since she arrived. On Saturday she decided to take up something new — a short pottery class near her flat. "If you don't try new things, you always regret it later," she told a friend.

The studio was cosy and authentic, much quieter than the crowded centre of town. She felt a little nervous at first, but the teacher was patient. "You should just relax your hands," he told her — advice that actually worked. By the end, she even had a slight headache from concentrating so hard, but she didn't mind at all.

On Sunday her legs were aching from standing all day, so she decided to chill out at home. She caught up on sleep and read for hours. If she had more free time this month, she would take up two new hobbies instead of one. If the weather is nice next weekend, she will try something else — maybe cooking.
